Two of Dublin’s leading private transport operators teamed up today to launch a jointly operated premium Airport coach link from south county Dublin.

Tony McConn, MD of Dualway Coaches and Paddy Kavanagh, MD of Eirebus have joined forces to start the new Flybus service. Their joint venture means residents of Tallaght, Clondalkin and Lucan can now avail of a direct premium airport bus service which departs hourly from Tallaght, Clondalkin and Liffey Valley to the Airport from 4am to 9pm.
Officially launching the service, Transport Minister Noel Dempsey paid tribute to the two operators as showcasing the finest that the private sector can offer, and said he was proud to be associated with the launch.

“As politicians we like to be associated with excellence, and that’s one of the things that you can say about the two operators involved in this venture. Dualway have won numerous awards for excellence - they are a serious company, a family run company who know what they are doing, and Eirebus, who have many years experience operating coach services, are another fine example of the private sector.”

3 new Mercedes Plaxton mini-coaches fitted with 29 reclining seats will provide capacity for up to 8000 passenger journeys a week, and plans are in hand to further develop the service, according to Dualway Coaches founder Tony McConn.

“We have made an initial investment in the service of nearly one million euro, creating 10 new jobs and are already looking towards increasing frequency, creating a further 10 jobs within 12 months” said Tony McConn.

The Flybus service, which has been contracted to Eirebus to operate, will use a fleet of the latest low emission vehicles offering passengers not only the ultimate in comfort for passenger travel but also, a green method of getting to and from Dublin Airport.
